About The Sea Gull Shop

The Sea Gull Shop was opened in 1968 by our Aunt and Uncle, Barbara and Charles “Bud” Thomas, and they ran it for over 45 years. Barbara passed in 2012; Bud in 2014. They loved this store and their customers, many of whom they came to know as friends.

Bud was a WWII Veteran who fought in the Pacific Theater. He would often share war stories with customers. He was proud to be an American and loved his country and everything it stands for. His kindness, quick wit, and remarkable character made an indelible mark on the Southend of Ocean City.

The store has witnessed many changes to our island; but we are determined to maintain the Sea Gull Shop as a place where people will come, year after year, to get some bait and a beach chair, and maybe hear a good joke or a story or two.

Bud had a lot of sayings, but a favorite is, “this is what it’s all about.” We thank you, our customers and friends, for being what it’s all about. We look forward to many more years of great memories and new friends. Go get ‘em!
